Egypt and Jordan 2004 - Day 13 and 14

Today we went to Little Petra, and then to Kerak, a Crusader Castle, and then to Madaba. Little Petra was really interesting - on a smaller scale than Petra, but in a way I preferred it, it looked more suburban (in as much as rock houses can look suburban!). The crusader castle was lovely - built on a hill with really commanding views.. Madaba was a hole however, and tensions between tour members were starting to show. Still, we got through. And in lieu of anything else to do, played some more poker.....

The following day we went to the Dead Sea. We had the day at the Dead Sea Resort, which was great. Went straight into the sea, and it was fantastic - I could sit in the water and it was literally impossible to keep much of your body under it, the buoyancy was so great. Had a really good day there, thoroughly enjoyed it - Tamz had had a craving for chocolate for days, and managed to get a chocolate ice cream. (note there are two Photos below from our visit to the Dead Sea from the Israeli side in 1978 as children).

In the evening, we headed out to Amman, the capital. We arrived and checked into the hotel - really depressing hotel with whole new realms of filth, particularly in the bathroom, and the area seemed a bit dodgy too. We wandered out to a pub Robbie had pointed out (so far superior a tour guide to the our good friend in Egypt!), and then joined the others for a great dinner at a pub called the Grenadier Guards - fantastic food and huge pints....
