Home Up Boat to Wilson Wilson Island Wilson underwater Heron Island Heron Underwater

Tuesday 28th December 2004

These shots were all taken using the waterproof case on the Canon - I'm fairly happy with the overall quality and colour achieved, the only disappointing one was the shot of the ray - visibility wasn't great and the current was strong, so it was difficult to hold the camera steady enough to take the shot.

That afternoon we got the launch back to Gladstone, and for one of the only times in my life, my plan worked perfectly - I wanted to see if we could get on the earlier Brisbane flight (Gladstone airport has no air conditioning, and nothing to do for three hours), so we sat at the front of the bus, and when we got to the airport I raced ahead (leaving my poor mother to bring the bags) and was first in line in the checkin queue. We got the only two spare seats on the flight - and got to Brisbane airport hours earlier (air-conditioned, food, bar...). Of course, we then had the shock of finding out that the tsunami had ripped through Asia two days before - there were no tvs on Wilson, and only one on Heron that we didn't see.
