We decided to go away for Christmas this year, and as I'm leaving Australia next year and had never really been on holiday in Australia, or to the Barrier Reef, we decided to go to Heron Island, and then to Wilson Island. All Photos on these pages were taken with the Canon Powershot S1 IS, including the underwater shots courtesy of the complicated piece of engineering that is the waterproof housing. I've reduced the photo quality to absolutely the lowest possible, to minimise viewing and download times, so the Photos aren't as good as the originals unfortunately. Aside from the Canon having a fit of pique when I dropped it (understandable really), and refusing to work for two days, it stood up to most of what I put it through.
We took the Helicopter out to Heron, as the flights we had didn't meet the launch transfer and we didn't want to spend a night in Gladstone. A really incredible experience, which unfortunately only lasts 30 minutes. I took only a few Photos as I was filming the trip instead - the main footage will be on the DVD. We arrived at Heron at around 3pm.
